Job Description Summary
This role is responsible for the overall Environmental, Health and Safety program at the site, including but not limited to implementing policies and processes that ensure a safe and healthy work environment, compliance with all applicable laws and regulations, process safety management, and development of a strong EHS culture. It includes participation on the Plant Leadership Team and managing a team of direct reports as well as the ability to lead and influence without direct authority.Job Description

- Develop, implement and oversee programs to ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations as well as BD standards, processes and programs.
- Design the EHS strategy for injury and environmental incident prevention at the site.
- Lead, train and develop the EHS team in the San Luis Potosi plant
- Manage the EHS department budget to ensure safe operations and compliance with national and corporate standards.
- Manage process safety program to ensure compliance with local and international standards (PSM and NOM-028-STPS).
- Industrial Hygiene Program management, including medical monitoring
- Direct the San Luis Potosí site's emergency response teams to mitigate associated risks.
- Implementation of chemical safety programs, including chemical inventories and reporting
- Environmental programs such as Hazardous Waste, air, stormwater and wastewater permitting; others as required
- Perform facility inspections to identify safety, health, and environmental risks. This includes audits for compliance with Federal, State, and local regulations and corporate policies
- Preparation of reports to maintain records of compliance, site’s progress to maintaining a safe work environment and maintain reporting system(s) for data collection and trending
- Facilitate incident investigations including effective RCA. Provide guidance for the recordkeeping and corporate incident reporting system. Manage and follow-up on Workers’ Compensation case management activities. Review and improve the site's Injury and Illness Prevention Program (IIPP) as needed.
- Assist in the management of the site's EHS Training Program. Provide limited training on pre-established safety curriculum. Maintain Health & Safety Training database. Generate reports and coordinate scheduling. Ensure EH&S policies and procedures are followed through education and training.
- Provide review and periodic updates of written safety and environmental programs, including SOPs and Work Instructions.
- Ensure EH&S training through the implementation of safety awareness programs. Participate in departmental safety inspections and assist with implementing corrective/preventative actions for identified hazards. Discuss and document pertinent EH&S topics at staff meetings. Leads the Safety Committee.
- Remain current with EHS regulations and changes that may impact operations; Initiates changes to practices and procedures to support compliance requirements and effective Management of Change.
- Implementation of GMPs in EHS processes to ensure operational excellence.
- Leads applicable internal, government and insurance audits and inspections, as well as managing findings for closure.
- Leads EHS certifications and programs.
- Validate key performance indicators through accurate and timely reporting to monitor the performance of the EHS program at the site
