Sirigen, Inc. is a subsidiary of BD Biosciences and produces polymeric reagents for use in Flow Cytometry and other biological applications.

As the Senior Scientist in New Content Antibody Development team, you will be expected to evaluate and develop new antibody products to support life science research in the fields of immunology and immuno-oncology. You will be responsible for product development by designing experiments, coordinating new product testing, reviewing data, troubleshooting, reporting results, documentation, and providing direction to other scientists. You will apply your knowledge of immunology and flow-cytometry to help the team launch innovative and high-quality products.

Job Responsibilities:

• Responsible for launching antibody products for flow cytometry application for life science research in the field of immunology.

• Designs strategies and experiments to validate antibodies and reviews data in a team setting.

• Performs experiments to validate flow reagents and analyzes and compiles data in a report.

• Communicate results to cross-functional teams and is responsible for documentation for product launch.

• Independently troubleshoots own projects and also provides help to other scientists with their projects.   

• May oversee day-to-day activities of other scientists and train/mentor junior scientists.

• Represents team and it’s data/recommendations in business meetings and to R&D leadership.

• Searches, Investigates, and supports development of new methods and technologies.

• Write and review standard operating procedures and policies for the department.

• Maintains substantial knowledge of state-of-the-art principles and theories and contributes to scientific literature and conferences. May present data at national scientific meetings.

• Promotes a safe work environment. Offers recommendations on maintaining the safety of the work environment.  Participates in Environmental Health & Safety programs.  Participates in addressing corrective actions whenever a hazard is identified.  Notifies' supervisor of all observed unsafe work practices.

• Works under general supervision with minimal supervision.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

• Ph. D. in Immunology or a related life science subject area with 3+ years of relevant laboratory experience; or MS degree with 7+ years industry or relevant experience.

• Minimum of 6 years of experience in flow cytometry.

• Knowledge of spectral flow-cytometry is a plus.

Knowledge and Skills:

• Strong knowledge of flow cytometry and immunology.

• Requires experience designing, performing, and analyzing flow cytometry experiments, preferably on BD flow cytometers (LSR Fortessa, X-20, Canto, Celesta, A5-SE, Aria).

• Desired software skills: BD FACS Diva, FlowJo, FCS Express, and Microsoft Office Suite.

• Good understanding of data analysis techniques used in a cell analysis laboratory.

• Demonstrated ability to interpret and present data of moderate to high complexity.

• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Effective written and oral communication skills.

• Demonstrated ability to keep neat, accurate, and complete records.

• Demonstrated ability to follow established policies and procedures.

• Strong teammate who has a proven track record of collaborating on teams.

• Effectively works in a matrixed environment.

• Self-motivated with a strong work ethic.
