Summary of Position:
The Design Quality Engineer (DQE) works closely with other members of the DQA team as well as key stakeholders in engineering, manufacturing operations, regulatory affairs, purchasing, quality assurance, and marketing to ensure the design and development of high-quality products which meet all customer requirements. The role involves supporting product development teams during all phases of new product introduction and ongoing support of existing products including corrective actions, process changes, new suppliers, material/design changes, and addressing quality issues reported by customers or identified internally.

Responsibilities:

• Supports cross functional project teams throughout the entire NPD cycle, ensuring that risk assessments are completed, design inputs are defined, verification and validation protocols are developed, executed and closed out successfully, design outputs are correctly interpreted, and appropriate documentation is generated.

• Generates internal documentation such as work instructions, specifications, procedures, and reports.

• Writes, updates, and maintains documentation to ensure compliance with regulations and to facilitate successful product launches.

• Maintains awareness of changing regulatory environments and emerging technologies relevant to medical device industry.

• Works collaboratively with global stakeholders to implement solutions and mitigate risks.

• Applies fundamental knowledge of engineering concepts, theories, practices, and principles to develop, evaluate, and improve designs.

• Develops prototypes and models using standard software packages.

• Collaborates with manufacturing operations, quality assurance, and other departments to solve problems

• Identifies root causes of quality issues and initiates CAPAs to prevent recurrence.

• Conducts investigations and writes reports detailing findings and conclusions.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required; Master’s degree preferred.

• Minimum of 2 year of experience in medical device or pharmaceutical industry. Design controls experience is preferred.

• Experience working in a GMP environment.

• Knowledge of FDA regulations, ISO 14971, IEC 62304, and IEC 80002-1.

• Excellent communication skills required.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite required.

• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

• Strong attention to detail required.

• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally approximately 5% of time required.
