Distribution Operations Manager (Covington, GA) 2nd shift

The Distribution Manager provides management oversight for all activities in the distribution center. This role serves as an interface and coordinator between warehouse operations teams and the DC senior leadership. The Distribution Manager is accountable for the safe, efficient, and economical operation of the facility and equipment.

2nd Shift Monday - Friday (10.30 AM-8.00PM)

Job Responsibilities:(Primary Duties, Roles, and/or Authorities)

  • Develop and direct programs to ensure the efficient and cost-effective operation and utilization of the facility.  

  • Develop a forward knowledge of work volumes to ensure proper staffing and scheduling in accordance with customer requirements. 

  • Provide direction in the development and maintenance of necessary warehouse management systems.

  • Evaluate space utilization and make recommendations and implement ways to increase capacity as needed by changing business volume. 

  • Uses LMS data to monitor and enhance productivity to meet established goals and requirements. 

  • Provide a work environment that promotes open communication and focuses on BD’s values of Quality, Integrity, and Service.

  • Review procedures and make recommendations to ensure the efficient operation and utilization of all warehouse equipment.

  • Assure compliance with appropriate government regulations.  

  • Assist in maintaining the security of the warehouse and conduct all activities in a manner that promotes a safe work environment.

  • Develop and implement on-going communications programs with the management team, office, and warehouse personnel.  

  • Actively participate in customer quality programs and process improvement project teams. 

  • Become knowledgeable with the responsibilities of all warehouse leadership roles to assist as required and act as back-up at times of absences and vacations.

  • May be required to work a flexible schedule and/or travel.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor Degree in a related field and 2+ years related experience, preferred; or

  • Associate degree and 4+ years related experience; or

  • High School Diploma or GED with 6+ years of equivalent experience, required. 

  • 2+ year of proven leadership experience,required.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Must have knowledge of inventory and WMS.

  • Knowledge of GMP/SOP/Work Instructions and be able to develop techniques to ensure adherence to quality standards.  

  • Ability to critically review, analyze, compare, and interpret information and apply this when solving problems. 

  • Strong people skills including developing, coaching, listening, collaborating, and delegating.

  • Project management skills.

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.

  • Knowledge of principles and methods for distribution of product.

  • P/L knowledge in a regulated distribution services industry.

The job may require lifting over 50lbs in some areas but not allAssociate must have normal field of vision corrected to 20/40 in each eye and must have hearing sufficient to safely operate MHE [Material Handling Equipment] in a manufacturing/distribution environment.

Work Environment: (if applicable)

The noise level is moderate to loud.  There will almost always be exposure to work near moving mechanical equipment, exposure to precarious situations and potential temperature excursions.  Occasionally the position will have exposure to fumes/airborne particles.
